Workforce and Talent

The Greater Prescott Region is one of the fastest growing areas in Rural Arizona. The growth can in part be attributed to the strong educational system that delivers a wide range of certificate and degree programs to help meet the needs of our employers.

Internationally known Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University has a campus in Prescott. In addition to the university’s strong aeronautical science degree, it offers Bachelor of Science degrees in advancing fields like Cyber Intelligence and Security; Space Physics; and Unmanned Aircraft Systems, along with a Master’s degree in Security and Intelligence Studies.

Prescott College began in the 1960’s and is truly one of a kind institution of higher education. Dr. Charles Franklin Parker, minister of Prescott’s First Congregational Church and Prescott College founder, announced the ambitious project of creating the Harvard of the West – Prescott College, located in downtown Prescott, this scenic liberal arts school continues to seek our new models of education to better prepare students of all ages for their role as global citizens. The college offers degrees ranging from a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science to a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Development to a Master’s degree in Counseling.

In 2010, Northern Arizona University, Yavapi College, and the Town of Prescott Valley Partnered to open the NAU-Yavapai Campus. This unique extended campus provides an affordable high quality college education at an accelerated pace, allowing students to earn a degree in as little as three years and prepare for employment or graduate education.

Yavapai College continues to grow and add certificates and degrees that are meeting the workforce needs of area employers. In addition to the main campus in Prescott, the college also has additional learning facilities throughout the region including Prescott Valley, the Agribusiness and Science Center in Chino Valley, and the career and Technical Education Center near the Prescott Municipal Airport.

Mountain Institute provides enhanced Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses for students within seven individual school districts (Western Yavapai County): Ash Fork, Bagdad, Chino Valley, Humboldt, Mayer, Prescott and Seligman. These districts have access to additional funding as part of the JTED. This funding provides students access from all districts to Career and Technical Education courses that is significantly greater than any individual district can provide. Charter school and home school students are also encouraged to participate in JTED programs.

The Yavapai County Education Service Agency (YCESA) provides central administration and support to school districts throughout Yavapai County. YCESA includes the three public school districts within the Greater Prescott Region: Prescott Unified School District, Chino Valley Unified School District, and Humboldt Unified School District, along with several charter schools such as BASIS Prescott, Mingus Springs Charter School, and the Arizona Agribusiness and Enquine Center.
